Ethical standards

TEATRO is committed to safeguarding ethical standards to endorse good practices in the context of academic research.

In this regard, the prohibition of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and appropriation of content associated with projects or instances of research developed by other researchers is defined, along with a strict commitment to the quality and originality of contributions. For these purposes, all contributions submitted will undergo an initial review using the plagiarism detection tool Turnitin, subscribed to by the Universidad de Chile.

The Executive Committee of the Editorial Team of TEATRO is responsible for maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring confidentiality in the peer review process (double-blind peer review); preserving the information provided by the authors and evaluating contributions objectively while avoiding any arbitrary discrimination. The members of the Executive Committee are also the first reviewers for the subsequent external evaluation of contributions that, according to editorial standards, must undergo double-blind peer review (articles and essays).

Authors, on their part, are responsible for the integrity and ownership of their contributions, considering the following basic ethical norms:

• All forms of plagiarism or self-plagiarism are prohibited.
• The Journal will not publish manuscripts that demonstrate conflicts of interest or may imply any form of fraud.
• If the manuscript is based on research that poses real risks to participants, it is mandatory to present the opinion of the Ethics Committee of the sponsoring institution.
• Authors are responsible for the content of their works (articles, essays, reviews, translations), as well as for the copyright of images, videos, and any textual or complementary element to their writing. Any use of external material must be authorized by its authors under the exceptions provided by the Intellectual Property Law.
• Manuscripts must adhere to standards of quality in academic publications, striving for the use of updated bibliographic references and the inclusion of an appropriate methodological framework, when applicable.
• The author commits to providing the journal with corrections for any eventual errors.
• Submitting a manuscript to Revista TEATRO implies that the author declares to have read and respected the journal's ethical guidelines.

As for reviewers, they must comply with maximum confidentiality regarding the information they receive as part of the peer review process. Therefore, they must notify the Executive Committee of the Editorial Team in case they observe formal or content-related errors in the papers they evaluate.

Violations of these ethical guidelines detected by reviewers or by the Editorial Team of the Journal may result, following the author's right to defend themselves, in the rejection of the manuscript and other measures deemed appropriate by the Editorial Team.
